CVO-Softail-Springer first impressions
« on: April 07, 2009, 06:00:12 PM »

Have the bike 3 weeks and have clocked 1100+ miles, all I can say is WOW.... it has been an amazing experience, the bike handles like a dream, goes like the clappers when pushed and looks  :-*, there is no comparison with my last Harley (VRSCDX) Forget how it looks, its a much better ride, ive 1/4 of the the old bike mileage done already, had that bike for two years, always thought there would be nothing to match my K1200r when it came to mile munching and now im seriously considering taking the Springer to Europe for the summer (over 300 miles last Sunday and not an ache)
V&H large radius pipes are loud, maybe too loud, 550 miles Sat/Sun had my ears buzzing for many hours after getting off the bike, never wore earplugs b4 but might check em out, friends Night Train with same exhaust is far quieter, is it the engine capacity?
Weekend of banter planned, Rooters rally Saturday night, Classic bike show Sunday and biker girl friends birthday Sunday night, cant wait :2vrolijk_21:
Am I the only one buzzing because they drive a CVO?

Glad you like the new scoot! Love those springers myself.

One suggestion:

http://www.amazon.com/Peltor-P1300-Skull-Earplugs-120-Pair/dp/B0017X8682/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1239142016&sr=8-2

Buy 'em by the bag and use 'em religiously. Also hand them out to friends and acquaintances and they love them as well!

That's a good idea Ice6900, June-August is free for me so hope to be abroad for at least 6 weeks, nothing planned, normally just hop on a boat and go where the road takes me,
Pic overlooking Youghal today, 160 miles trip, beautiful weather for biking, have u ever been this way? Bikefest in early June is something else, great location in Killarney and terrific crack

Keep in contact :2vrolijk_21: & thanks for the link

My 08 is soooooo f'n nice I'm afraid to ride the dang thang!  :carrot:  NOT! I get some GREAT comments from people at stop lights and while driving... I had a guy/gal in a jeep the other day pull up and start clapping - that's just SICK y'know? Man what a nice job the factory did on this bike!

Your bike is simply stunning, wonder what tires are you using if you have replaced the originals, she's obviously well run in, what kind of gas mileage do you get?

Hi Bogman

I have a 2008 Dyna CVO with V&H Big radius fitted. It was the same. I purchased a set of Thunder Max baffles and had them fitted. It make the sound quiter and lowers the pitch plus enhances the performance. I had a bit of the existing baffles cut away and placed the Thunder Max in as well. You need them fitted properly on the big radius for the best result then should tune to suit.

Hope the info helps - all the best from down under

Regards

Yendor
