Every time we got ready to leave today the skies opened up.
Gotta tell you, the parking lot at Rocky Waters is like ice when wet. Looks like it was recently top coated.
We finally left in the rain with promising skies ahead.
Once we left the valley the rain was gone.
Parts of the Hellbender are now completely repaved, very nice.
Many of the side pull offs on the Dragon are being paved, that is good for letting the rockets zip by. Only one troop on the
road today and he was busy writing a ticket when we passed.
We started heading to the Cherohala from there and turned around about 10 miles past the Foothills parkway. I don't think our passengers would have made it.
My goal was to hit the little restaurant on the river at the west end of the Skyway, but being over an hour away and no guarantee they would be open .............
There is a new BBQ - burger place at the 129 - 72 intersection (up past the Foothills).
We ate there, it was OK. From there it was back down the Dragon. It was dark by the time we were passing through Cherokee and just outside of town we saw a pair of bear cubs, one on either side of the road on 19.
Soon as we pulled into the parking lot it started to rain.
