2009 tool bag
« on: May 05, 2009, 07:03:42 PM »

I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination but I'm going on a long trip across the country and I was wondering if the free tool kit they gave me with my 2009 bike is enough in case anything happens. It seems a bit light but maybe that is all you need.
I would appreciate any input

thanks :2vrolijk_21:

It is enough for really minor stuff in my opinion. No way to prepare for everything and be on a bike. Perform good PM and keep an eye on things. Enjoy the ride. If something happens that you were not prepared for...adapt and overcome!

It's a good start....you'll probably want to add to it.  There have been topics/discussions on this and what other things to pack for road trips....someone will probably chime in with more direct info.  spyder

Assuming you're already a HOG member,  hopefully you paid up the extra 19.95 for the "Roadside Service".  I think ya get one shot at road side without the extra, but it's worth the price if you have a problem on the road that you can't fix yourself or is in the middle of no-where.............been there,  done that. :nervous:

Never leave home without your Tour Book... There's always a dealer close by when needed, except of course Green Mountain Harley just outside of Burlington, Vermont.  If in need, I would travel on by that excuse of a dealership and go to the end of the earth for help!

Make sure your servicing is done prior to your trip and everything should be great.

Have a wonderful and safe trip.

When the bolt holding on my front pannier mount fell off, there wasn't a spanner in it that fitted - so I don't reckon it's sufficient by itself.
