Intermittent Speedometer failure
« on: May 27, 2009, 01:18:09 PM »

Hello all,
My Speedometer and tach died while out this riding this weekend, both worked on the way out for some food, then when I started the bike up no tach or speedo.  Stopped for gas then started the bike back up and speedo and tach worked and no check engine light.

Anyone see this before?  I'll check the DTC codes.

Thanks!

I noticed you have the TMAT.  One thing to check is to make sure you have the latest upgrade to the TMAT.  Several of us have had the same problem, speedo goes away but the bike runs just fine.  We upgraded to the latest version of the TMAT and the problem went away.

No longer have the bike but this occurred in the last year with three bikes with the TMAT, all were fixed with the latest upgrade( not sure which version worked).

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, I did find updates for the firmware, and TMAX program as well as a few updated maps!

Hope it works.  Did with mine.

The first time mine did it I was on my way to Colorado 1000 miles form home.  After I had to stop and get gas , I was just hoping it would start.  It did the speedo came back and when I got home I upgraded and never had the problem again.

that was the only issue I ever had with the TMAT.  I changed out pipes, AC played with timing, AFR etc.  It was very Nice not to have to take it and get dyno'd (although I did get it dyno'd right before I purchased my 09).
