Gear Whine

How come the TW6G gear driven cams in my 02 FLHR whine louder than the TW408G gear driven cams in my 06 FLHTCUSE?  Actually, I haven't heard the gears in the Green Bike whine at all.  Not sure if it is because the exhaust drowns out the whine, or if there is a difference in setup, or whatever the heck is going on.  Seems I recall reading "somewhere" that whining gears are not good......like the lash or alignment isn't correct.  Whatever it is, despite the whining gears.......which I think sounds great.......that Purple Bike will run like a cat that's been doused with turpentine.   :huepfenlol2:

Backlash and runout are the whole key to whine. Every bike will differ and you may need an undersized gear to get quiet, runout permitting.
