« on: July 02, 2009, 01:34:32 AM »

I was trying to find out some info on radar detectors.

does the Harley Davidson one work well ?
do detectors have updates?
do the police change the bandwidth or frequency often ?
is there one that someone recommends ?

thanks for any direction or answers you have

In all the Car and Driver reviews or other such reviews that I have read, the Valentine 1 is the overall winner of their test battery. Other detectors may win in one or two isolated aspects of the test battery, but the V1 is rated best overall the last time I checked. Now if they'd just have a mounting system like HD's for motorcycles, it would be great. Unfortunately, they don't to my knowledge. So you would have to jerry rig some sort of mounting for it.

I have a V1 in the car and LOVE it!  Not the best in looks and styling.  Old school look!  But still LOVE it!

I'm very happy with the Harley detector.  Looks great on the bike, and saved my @ss on multiple occasions.  It hasn't failed me yet!  :2vrolijk_21:

Here's the one I got - The 1-1/4" Chrome mini mount. It comes with velcro and a screw to mount a camera or camcorder. It works great and looks very nice too.

The Harley (Escort) Road Tech radar detector saved me again today!  Took a quick burst up to 90 and BAM off it goes - FULL alert.  Let go of the throttle, they hit me again (lower speed).  No pullover!  I never saw THE MAN.  I think he was up high, hiding on an onramp.  Lucky day lucky day~~~  :pepper:

Gotta admit, after two years of owning this, I'm not real excited with it. Several of the screws and the plate are peeling.

Detector + mount, $251 to the doorbell from Zanotti.  Cheaper than a ticket.
