Bleeding Hydraulic Clutch - 05 SEEG
« on: April 14, 2009, 05:23:50 PM »

Other than taking it to the dealer or buying a vacuum pump, what is the best way for a home mechanic to bleed the hydraulic line for the clutch?  Is it the same process as bleeding brakes - pump-hold-release?

Perfect!  Thank you Erniezap.  I didn't even see the Driveline topic when I was checking... Attension to detail is not my strong suit I guess.  Thanks again.

One addition to add if replacing the fluid: As with the brake masters, remove the old fluid in the master first with a turkey baster or other suitable device and refill with new fluid prior to bleeding. Saves a lot of time.

I finally changed the hyd clutch fluid on my 05 @ 40k. It was black and way past due. Cleaned it all up and flushed the system. ready to roll. :bananarock:

the easy quick way is to fill a pump oil can with fluid, place a piece of small  hose over the end, crack the bleeder valve, place the hose over it and pump all it will hold. remove hose, tighten valve and you are ready to go. sometimes you may have to blead it again.   fast cheap way.
