HID headlight
« on: June 01, 2009, 02:47:19 PM »

On our trip to the Smokys I got hit by a rock that cracked the headlamp. I was amazed how much a replacement was( over $550) so I bought an after market light for 90 bucks an am quite happy with it. I can have several get broken before I have spent that much, other than because they can, do you know of any reson that would make it so expensive? I also had a rock hit the fairing and it is in a place that all 3 paint colors would be affected.oh well I bought it to ride not to look at

They are quoting you the price for the HID dual bulb headlamp - 68094-06C - $524.95
Unless I am mistaken, the stock headlamp should be the dual bulb halogen headlamp - 67864-04A - $164.95

Still a lot, but not quite so painful.

The best thing about riding in the rain is you don't have to stop to piss.

the reason the complete hid is so expensive is because the housing and reflector are specifically designed for the hid bulb, the hid bulb has different charachteristics then the standard filament bulb, if you fit a hid bulb unit into your standard head lamp housing the beam of light is more scattered than with the original filament bulb, you will probably notice many oncoming motorist flashing you as your head lamp dazzles them.

Nope. They are identical.
