Ride down the river
« on: June 26, 2009, 10:38:58 PM »

My wife Kandy & I took the day off yesterday to ride with friends in town from Denver. Picked up a few other friends, one very familiar with the local roads and headed down to Wabasha, MN along the Mississippi river valley. Rode both sides of the river (Wisconsin and Minnesota) and went through Prescott, Red Wing, had lunch in Lake City on Lake Pepin and kept rolling down to Wabasha where we went west on Hwy 60 over to Zumbro Falls. some absolutely beautiful riding. A bit warm in the low 90's but as long as we kept riding, we kept cool.

Photo here of my wife Kandy and our friend Jerry Jones outside the lunch stop in Lake City next to Kandy's scoot. She'll be making the transition from the Suzuki to the SE Deuce over the next month. She's gonna love it!

7 riders on six bikes for a good, manageable size group. 3 of the scoots across from the lunch stop.

Scenic group shot going up the hill west of Wabasha on Hwy 60. So many different colors of green on the route. Crops look great, roads were for the most part excellent and everyone had a great time!

Came back up the Wisconsin side through Hudson and back across the bridge into Stillwater. Great riding day. About 200 miles.

That's a great area to ride in, coming down from the cities along the river and into Red Wing is just fantastic.  Those are some great towns too, lots of options for lunch stops.   :2vrolijk_21:

Funny thing about weekends when you're unemployed, they don't mean quite so much.  Except you get to hang out with your working friends...
