Just had the dealer do the 1,000 service on a 09 SERG. Changed to amsoil and the motor is still noisy at 3,000 compaired to the 07 SERK. Engine now has 1600 milew and last night I decided to just check the oil. I pulled the stick wiped it off and reinserted to check the level. When I pulled it out there was a piece of metal about 1/4" long and shiney. Only thing I can think of maybe it came off the chrome oil cap. Hope the motor isn't comming apart. Any suggestions???

Sorry, I had to do that......Was the metal on the dipstick?

yes it was. I pulled it out and wiped it off with a clean paper towel and put the stick back in. When I removed it again it was on the stick?

i think i would drain the oil and check for more metal depress, and also take the filter apart and check that too. Any foreign metal in the oil cavity is not good. That 1/4 inch piece of metal is something to be concerned about. If it were me, i would not run the engine until i figured out where the metal chunk came from and fix what needed to be fix, even if turns out to be a cheap ass oil cap...

Yea I checked the oil cap. It apears to be plastic. I'll see what the dealer has to say!
