Driver Back Rest
« on: June 29, 2009, 01:06:50 PM »

Just picked up my CVO Road Glide and love it! Need to know if the adjustable drivers back rest ( that i saved from my 07 RG before trading it) will work on my new CVO RG??  Also the owners manual shows a bracket to recieve a drivers back rest like it is already installed on the bike, after removing the seat to be sure, nothing at all is there, please help.

The receiver bracket for the back rest was about $60.00 CDN. It mounts with existing holes. Not sure if any other back rest will fit.

I use the one that came off my 08 and it sets back further than the 09 backrest mount, I just used the two studs to mount and did not tie it to the frame, works good for me but it does mark the seat with a dimple from the backest posts.   Doc

the receiver is sold separately, the 09 is a bit different for mounting. not sure about the adjustable but the standard drivers backrest seems to be the same. i adjust mine with a bfh. :smash:

Wanted to say thanks for the replies, called my dealer last nite, he tells me the adjustable portion of the drivers back rest(bracket that holds the hydralic cylinder) is the same for my 2007 RG, as is my new SERG, but inorder to mount it on a 2009 i need to purchase a special mounting kit being that the frame and rear fender are different. I should recieve it by the end of the week and will let everyone know how it works out. Price was around $50 bucks ,Thanks!

I have one on my 06 and 09 RG.  There is no adapter plate.  The main mount plate was slightly different. The actual backrests are interchangeable.

Jettjockey is correct, you need only the mount for your 09

Took the adjustable back rest from my 07 RG and installed it on the 09 SERG, only additional part required was a mounting plate that bolts to the front of the adjustable bracket thats under the seat. It looked like a 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" steel plate bent at 90 degrees, this must be the difference between the 07 frame and the 09 frame. Anyways it did work, but the bracket seems to protrude out of the seat more than i would like, not happy with the way it looks with the top of the bracket sticking out, perhaps a thicker padded seat would hide it?
