Peeling Chrome
« on: January 26, 2006, 10:38:05 PM »

Alot of the guys who own the EGs are complaining of peeling chrome so I thought I would chime in here. I just went to look at my newly re-framed Fatboy this weekend at the stealer. The mirrors have some peeling and a little pitting around the base where the glass is recessed. I asked if that would be covered under warranty. The tech said he would find out but have seen turn downs as it can be considered "environmental element damage" not a flaw in the product. In other words blame it on the rain not the chrome. He has not gotten back to me on this yet. I will post what I find out.

Anyone else having chrome issues?

BTW the solid spun aluminum rims are mf'r to clean on the 05, you 06ers have it made there if your chrome doesn't peel like the guys over on the Eg side seem to have complaints about.

I use my cordless dremmel tool with a soft half inch buffing pad attached and it cleans them in seconds (times 48 each wheel...so I guess that's a few minutes all in [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif])

Scott, of all the Wing colors that Candy Cherry is my favorite.

(I know this because it's the same color as my helmet)  ;D

Scott,
Its not almost blasphemy! it is blasphemy, how could you?
Good to hear you got your "fat" back & sounds like its in good shape, now you will have to park that other thing! Hide it under a blanket or something.

Looking forward to the package.

Cheers

Well I am sure the fatboy will be in the family for alot longer than the Honda, but I don't feel badly beatin my bastard stepchild the Honda. Its actually is a very fun bike......just not the same way as my H-Ds. I have no love afair with the Wing.which makes it a perfect daily commuter....keep the good bike for the good days!
