Scuba,
What kind of passenge backrest do you have on the bike?  I'm not a real fan of the "arms" but if the BSR likes it for long rides, then I may look into it.  Great looking bike.  Apes look great.

If you have never had floorboards you will need a few extra items. Here is the whole list:

Pivot pins #50933-86 total of 4
Springs #33085-74 total of 2
Ball # 8860 total of 2
Floorboard pans #50357-04
Rumble inserts # 51502-09 and 51510-09 (one is left and one is right)

$400.00 total.

Last question Scuba, does the Sundowner raise you from the ground, or is it a pretty sleek design?  I've heard of them but have not seen one on a SERG.  I don't want a seat too high as I like the sleek, low look of the stock seat.  Thanks for the info.

ADC,

I also hate the look of the arms but my wife LOVES them and they add some security for my 8 year old daughter, who loves to ride. The backrest is made by Mustang and was ordered through Drag Specialties. I believe the part number was 0822-0106. The arms are 2" longer than the stock HD unit and the overall quality seems very good. The retail price was $268.95 which is $70 more than HD but I like it better and it was easier to install.
If I put my tour pak on it means we are headed on a road trip so comfort wins.

The Sundowner does raise you up from the ground and IMO is not real pleasant to look at. However, my wife is not real pleasant when her butt hurts so comfort wins. We only use it on road trips so I can live with it. For around town, I run the Rallyrunner. Its sleak and low.

Thanks Scuba, mine isn't pleasant either when she's saddle sore, and we're headed to Sturgis this Saturday.  Just spent around $300 on stock seat mod through Mean City Cycles and she likes it, but am considering other options too just in case.  Thx again.

The Sundowner seat is quite bit thicker in the rear seat area and about the same in the front rider position.  It's a LOT wider for the passenger.  I think I paid $299 at the dealership, other discounts may get that cheaper by 20%.

Actually on the original '08 SERK seat I bought the Sundowner to replace on longer rides, I found the front of the original seat to be just a bit more comfy than the Sundowner.  My wife was in love with the Sundowner, but as many have said, the Sundowner is not a pretty seat and in some respects is downright ugly.

Most dealerships stock the Sundowner and you can probably take a look at one before you buy one.

Good luck.

Good luck in your search. If you can stand the look, she will love the Sundowner. Lots of cush and plenty wide to keep the pressure off the tailbone. As Dan posted, most dealers stock these and they will probably let you mock it up and see if ya like it. HD part number is 52093-08.
I think the perfect seat is kinda like the perfect windshield.....the search never ends?

Thanks Scuba Steve.  You obviously have the chopped tour pak,  but all the notes for passenger backrests with arms indicate for King Pak only.  Did you have to do any mods to make this fit?  Why is it easier to install?

ADC,

No modifications were required to the backrest or the tour pak except for the drilling of 2 extra holes. I posted it as easier cause I read somewhere on this site that the HD king backrest required 6 new holes in order to fit the chopped tour pak. I can snap some pics of the mounting bolts later tonight and get them posted.

ADC,

I took a quick pic of the mounting bolts. There are actually 3 total. 1 in each corner and 1 in the center. The backrest included a drilling template. Please forgive my lack of photo skills.

Thanks Scuba Steve.  The pix is better than a 1000 words!  At least for mod challenged people like me.

ADC, I think you and I could start a mod challenged support group maybe.  Other than installing Kruzer Kaddy and windscreens, everything else is a challenge to me!   :2vrolijk_21:
