We've got a Chapter BBQ at the lake coming up and I was planning to run mp3s through my SEUC audio system for background music.  I was wondering how long the audio could run without draining the battery too much.  I understand that part of the answer is the condition / age of the battery but assuming the battery is in good shape, does anyone have any experience running the audio system for a long period without the bike running?

Thanks.

Take one of those portable battery jumpers.  Many have a 12v aux output on them besides the battery cable clamps.  Plug that in to your battery tender plug.

Without external power, it's not going to be long. Certainly not long enough to keep a BBQ party entertained. If you crank up the volume, you can watch the little gauge go south. It also does not help that your lights etc. will be on. Better buy a portable blaster, certainly cheaper than going through all the aggravation.

Louis-

I see you are in Frankfurt a M.  Do the international bikes not have an ACC switch setting?  Just curious.  I can run the audio on the ACC setting without running my lights as well.  I've turned the radio on in my garage several times while tinkering with the bike but about 20 minutes was proably the longest I've done that without turning the radio off or cranking the bike.

Of course, if the system is pulling too much power on its own, I guess it's a non-issue anyway.  I was just hoping to avoid having to find some battery-powered boombox or mp3 speakers that also fits into my bags or tourpak.

The HDI bikes are just the same, when it comes to the ACC setting. I should have written "It also does not help if your lights etc. will be on." instead of "It also does not help that your lights etc. will be on.".

It will play for a couple of hours on just the radio......but best to take a radio with batteries instead of the bike.....the only way to find out is actually draining the batery. :2vrolijk_21:   have fun !
