Passenger vibration on the Road King
« on: September 03, 2009, 01:06:14 PM »

Does anyone have any ideas of how to reduce the vibration that typically (is on my bike anyway) happens around 20-45 mph? I have a Mustang seat which is great & adjusting the air shocks helps but the wife still hates the vibration she feels on the tall sissy bar (which has the Mustang pad). Is the only solution to install a touring trunk or does anyone out there have any other ideas? :(
Thanks,
Ry

If she's complaining about adverse vibration a SERK, then either something's wrong with the bike, or your OL maybe should get used to a Harley! The SERK, for all intents and purposes, DOESN'T VIBRATE!!! Put her on a Shovelhead, and she'll be kissing your ass to get her back on your SERK! ;)

The only area the vibration is felt is the tall sissy bar? Is it a detachable mount? Is all your hardware tight? Bushing is good condition?

You might check to make sure your rear tire is in proper alignment and balanced. You should not be experiencing vibration as you have described. I have a little over 25000 miles on my SERK4 with no such issue.

Just a couple of thoughts. Welcome to the site.

Thanks guys...I knew I was going to open myself up to the wife thing & her not liking the vibration ;D
Yeah, the only area that's really vibrating is the sissy bar & everything seems tight.
Maybe a wider tire in the rear would also help?
