2007 SERK - Sleeves in Pistons Moving - Make Sense at all ?
« on: October 17, 2009, 08:59:42 PM »

Gents:

The "sleeves" in the cylinders are moving.  Caused small oil leak.  I though gasket, quick fix.  Turns out to be cylinder "sleeve".  So under my extended warranty I am getting 2010 cylinders and new pistons.  Has this occured to anybody else ?  Figure I have to break the engine back in now ... ?   I pick her up next week sometime.   Kind of excited.  New cylinders, pistons, tune, oil, the works.

Was just curious as I have not seen any topic on it...maybe I missed it.

thanks :)

This was part of the epidemic of failures that were the 2007 engine problems.

Seems this was a problem in 07 and early 08. Mine slipped with less than 4000 miles on her. Went with Axtell cylinders as the HD cylinders were still slipping at that time. As I have not seen anyone post on this problem in awhile, seems like the 09/10's are "fixed". Hard to say for sure as the MoCo has not been forthcoming on if there was a "problem" so they can not readily claim to have "fixed" it.

Good luck with the new motor parts.
