Or possibly a case of suicide.  We've had a few around here where people laid on railroad tracks.  Enough of them so I don't believe they just thought it was a nice comfy place for a nap.  I guess if you want to go, and don't want to mess it up and only wind up injured or paralyzed, having a freight train hit you is a pretty good way to make certain.
