HD No Help With Seat Issue
« on: September 29, 2009, 10:06:53 AM »

I just got off the phone with HD Customer Service rep "John".  I called to ask if there was a process to file an official notice with HD of a factory design defect.  He got defensive right off the bat, asking if I was threatening legal action.  I explained that I just bought a very expensive 2010 SESG and there was a gap between the CVO tank emblem and the saddle.  He rustled some paper around and came back and said " We are aware of the issue.  That is a normal characteristic of that model".  I asked if it was going to be addressed or fixed, and he repeated the same statement.  I further explained that I had found others from prior year models that were having the same issue.  He again asked if this was a prelude to filing legal action.  When I said it might come to that he hung up on me!!  So much for HD customer service department!!

Is this acceptable for an American motorcycle company to simply abandon those that have been loyal and respond like this?  I'm thinking two words now - "class action".

What a rip.........

Call Mother Harley and state your issue with them. The stealer losses money on warranty items but if you document it with Mother Harley customer service you have a better chance at getting it resolved through your dealer.

I just realized that is who you called. Get your local dealer fired up and get there support. I had my main seat replaced on my 08 SEUC because I got a service writer behind me and he pushed Mother Harley. I got the new seat 2 months later.

NAH!!!!
Call back and ask for a manager and explain to them what happened to you in your last conversation. I think they will be interested in what you have to say, will be far more polite and offer a solution that meets your needs.

PLEASE let us know.

BTW: What seat issue??? I have a 2010 CVO Street Glide and think the "fit and finish" are top notch!!!

Mine was fine when I took delivery back in July.  The more I rode the further the saddle nose started creeping back.  I now have about a 1.5" to 2" gap between the CVO tank chrome and the saddle nose.  I'll post a pic tonight when I get home, but have heard from many others that have experienced same issue, even with earlier models.....

There is also a thread in the SESG board about the seat issue - Gap between seat and tanK? and this was noted on the SERG3's. What is interesting is both the SESG and the SERG3's share the same style rear fender... makes you wonder if that has any bearing on the seat issue. :nixweiss:

Seems I remember the same, or very similar, issue on the '09 SERG's.  Look through the SERG section of the site, I'm pretty sure one of the members came up with a fix.

The seat fits nice until you sit on it. If HD could just learn and put a fiberglass or metal seat pan they would not have any issues. I would think that the total warranty claims for the SERGS would more than pay for a better seat pan. Oh I forgot we live in a LEAN Society!!
