Multiple seats
« on: August 08, 2011, 09:04:18 PM »

A question for those that have both solo and 2up seats.  Did you remove the protective film on the rear fender when use the solo seat? Do you put anything on the fender when you put the 2up back on?

I left the protective cover on when I go solo.  I feel that when I do put the passenger pillion on, it helps with protection and once you move away from the bike, you really don't see it much.  Though I did ask the dealership about removing it.  It can be done - very carefully.  I went the safe way and left it.

I have a friend who removed the protective film and to protect the fender when riding 2-up he clued some felt to the bottom of his passenger seat... Seems to work well.

I marked the film that extended beyond my solo seat and removed it. Was a real SOB and took about half a bottle of Goo-B-Gone and alot of patience but looks much better.  I figure that if I ever put the two up seat back on, I'll order the protective film.

I would like to remove the protective film when I use my solo seat on my 2009 Springer. However I would like to here if anyone has used just the felt on there 2up seat without any issue to the paint and for how long it has been in use before I take any chances.
