As corny as it sounds, for me it's "Be all you can Be"  H-D produces a product that has to meet federal regulations. I'm not into tearing everything apart purely for the sake of it, but changing the intake and exhaust, tuning the engine to it's maiximum potential (non of which effects longevity) and adding a 6 speed for better performance all fall within the motto above. I don't do it for bragging rights and anything other than my own pleasure. Making the changes I do enhances my riding experience for me. I still do not know why anyone would spend 30K on something they referred to in such negative terms. Seems to me there's some image stuff going on on your side of the fence. I would never diss my ride, bone stock or modified. If I felt that way about it, I wouldn't have bought it.

How about this for a thought as to why we do it.  We are all big kids at heart, and everybody  wants a hot-rod toy to drive. BUT, we can't do it to the family car... 'cause we're smarter and more responsible than that.  But we CAN justify playing with a toy that we bought for just that purpose.  Not to mention the visceral thrill of lots of response when to spin the throttle!

and we have more money than brains....  at least according to MY boss lady/wife   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

In stock form, it is a VERY boring motor!! And I've never been able leave a motor stock no matter what it's in...To me... it's BORING.

I believe toys are suppose to be fun, and in stock form all my toys have been boring. So that's why I MODIFY...
Or maybe I just like supporting the aftermarket companys.

Fun to me ::)... HP+TQ=WFO But thats just my personality/opinion

To each his own.

Take Care,
Grover

Why do we tweek? BECAUSE IT'S FUN!
Why do we bitch? BECAUSE IT'S FUN!
Why do we ride? BECAUSE IT'S FUN!
Why are we on this site? BECAUSE IT'S FUN!

I for one, don't need to do any of the above. I don't need a bike at all. I want to ride. I want to ride a CVO. I want to tweek it. I want to bitch about the MoFoCo with my buds....because IT'S FUN!

Lighten up...have some FUN!
