I was planning to swap out my '05 Thunderstars for the Mirror Finish Thunderstars, yet there appear to be none available.... There's plenty of the ones that fall apart, which is what I had.

My dealer has called Harley and there appears to be a backorder.

Do any of guys/gals know if your paticular dealer has a set of these..?? I'm pretty sure my dealer will buy them to get them to me.

Ask your HD dealer to do a search on his computer for any dealers having that product number.
Your dealer has the capability to look at other HD dealers inventory over the HD intranet.

My rear tire is done and I was going to wait to replace it when Harley was replacing the wheel...

But now it looks like the wait might be too long. Thus I'll have to go with the OE Thunderstar, which will fall apart about 90 days after my warranty is done...

Keepin' my fingers crossed for the Mirror Finish...

Ron...I checked the Ocala store for you also....no luck.  It appears that the backorder with a "real" ship date is about 60 days out.  You running close enought to end of warranty not to wait?

Sounds like tire life is the main issue.  Maybe he can keep it parked for awhile to get the wheels he wants. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I guess I could just get a new rear installed ($90 labor) on the bad wheel. Then when the new stuff shows up, Harley can remount for me. It's definately worth the effort to get what I want in the long run...

I must be patient though...and that's the hard part...

Ron, if they've agreed to the swap I'd definitely not take the old style.  Not in hopes of it later failing and then getting the agreement again or as an interim.  Too many things might change (like the dealer's mind).  If he'll make the change and wait for the new wheel to come in to do it then just wait to get the ones you really want.

I'll wait. If I settle for the new old style, I'll just be back in there moaning again later.

I'll just get a new tire on the bad stuff, then when the good comes in, I'll let them replace it all...

Besides...it's to cold to ride...at least today..
