07 FXDSE 110 Hi-Perf build
« on: October 29, 2009, 11:48:59 AM »

Im gonna put 10.5 forged piston with 657 redshift cams and head work with a custom tune in this winter. Any ideas on HP and reliability issues. Not wanting to get to crazy on the built just get good horsepower and reliability without too much $$$.

Thanks Dynaman81

With that CR and those big ass cams, I'd be real worried about my bottom end holding together. Good luck. :o

Be mindfull of adding too much "grunt" on the topside without regards to the bottom end...

With the charateristics of the 110 heads I believe the 657 will dissapoint you. It is a long duration high overlap grind and has very high TDC lifts. They tightened the LSA to get it to be not so long winded.
Many other good choices, even from Zippers
Btw IME and IMO with the 110 head anything over ~.600 lift on the exhaust side is just wasted motion and a lot of valve spring pressure (parasitic loss) is needed to go there.

Does anybody see a problem with my idea? TTS Mastertune, Heavy Breather and Bub Jugg Huggers and possibly a cam such as Andrews 54 or CR575. I dont want anything too crazy just a little more umph throughout.

No not if you have the updates done and they changed heads.

By "updates done" do you mean the recall on the 110"? If so yes, not sure if the heads were changed, but I assume so, it was done before I got it.
Do you say this due to reliability issues?

The 07 had head issues and the updates fixed that by replacing the heads with 09 M.Y. heads, among many other changes.

This is the first I have heard about 09 heads as replacements. I was told no head change just valve guides and new comp releases :nixweiss:

The '07 and early '08 SEUC's were the only bikes to get head replacement under the "Enhancement" Program, which was a buncha bullchit. ;)

I thought They just replace the head gaskets and cylinders if needed.
