I have a 2010 SEUC and recently added a Biketronics Titan amp with the Titan XL front speakers. The front audio has been great and I couldn't be more pleased with the investment. I also made my TourPak detachable which resulted in issues with the rear audio. Essentially the rear audio will only function when the factory HO amp (located under TP) is connected to the audio wiring harness.

When using the detach kit, there is nowhere to re-install the rear amp. And without it connected to the plug under the seat, the rear speakers are no longer connected to the system. For a while, I ran with the rear amp stored in the right saddlebag. The wiring fit under the saddlebag lid without any modifications, however it did take up space and also created heat in the saddlebag. I was going to live with this approach but spoke with Tony Simonelli from Iron Cross Audio http://www.ironcrossaudio.com/ . These guys specialize in Harley's HK radio system.

Tony offered to come to my house (I live within reasonable driving distance) to take a look at the wiring since what I described to him was different from the harley wiring diagrams. I had the seat and fairing off so he could look at the wiring to determine how best to get audio to the rear speakers.

Tony was great to work with and essentially installed 4 new pins into the larger plug attached to the back of the radio.  The factory no longer uses the rear outputs on the 2010 SEUC radio connector and instead just used plastic plugs to block off these outputs. Tony installed 4 new pins bringing the rear audio from the radio to the rear of the bike using speaker wire inside of heat shrink. We ran the wiring along the frame backbone under the tank and then used barrel connectors to tap into the outputs from the rear amp harness to power the rear speakers using the HK radio's internal amp.

The fader now works perfectly and the sound is great with the Titan amp powering the front speakers and the factory radio driving the rear speakers. Tony was great to work with and I can't recommend this company enough. He wasn't even going to charge me for providing the new wiring harness to rear speakers. (Of course I made sure to give him money for a nice dinner out for his efforts.)

If you're looking to make the TP detachable on your 2009/2010 SEUC and you want to still have audio from your rear speakers, the route I just described is really the only way to get rear audio without storing the HK rear amp in a saddlebag. Now I have I have the system working exactly as it should (great, powerful front audio thanks to the Titan amp/speakers, very nice "fill" audio from the rear speakers and a fully functional fader) without sacrificing saddlebag space or using the rear HK amp. Give Tony a call if you think this is something you'd like to do on your own SEUC.

Are you saying the 09 rear speakers won't work if I am using an Amp under the Batwing (Hawg Wired) I was told it would?????

I am only getting Hawg Wired for the front, Amp and Speakers, then using the (stock) rear speakers powered by the stock radio.

Am I going to have issues with this?

The only issues you will have is it won't be as loud as your front speakers. If you want it to match then you have to get there system that powers the rear speakers.  I did the Four in the Face and had the Double Shot and believe me you will be amazed with the sound coming from the front and the back will not matter so much.  If your are worried about the passenger hearing it....they will in the front but most of the time the rear speakers are almost covered up by the passenger.

Does your 09 SEUC have a detachable TourPak or are you planning to make it detachable in the future)? Is the rear HK amp still connected into the wiring harness? If the rear HK amp is no longer connected to the bike's audio harness, you will not have any sound from the rear speakers regardless of what amp you use to power the front speakers.

If you still have the rear amp (under the tourpak) connected, you're OK. The rear speakers will have stock power and the Hawg Wired amp will be powering the front speakers.

There is a difference in the 06-09 bikes and the 10's guys. HD used a full overlay harness on the 06-09 bikes for the HK amp under the tour pack. This harness/amp is easily removed and in doing so all four speakers will work from the power built into the radio. In 10 they changed the harness to make it part of the bikes harnes and no longer easily removed.

No, As long as the overlay harness and amp is removed as we discussed.

You are not ok using the HK amp under the TP with the Hawg-wired system. In fact he rears will not work from the factory amp if the front channels are not connected to the amp.

Thanks, I thought you and I spoke about that.

Thanks for the clarification. I assumed that that the 09's and 10's had the same audio wiring. My mistake. All the references above regarding rear audio only applies to 2010 SE Ultras. Its worth noting that the rear amp on the 2010's can be used to drive the rear speakers while using an additonal amp such as Biketronics Titan amp (and I assume other amps) to drive the front speakers.

This setup absolutely works as I had it running this way on my bike. The sound is great however the issue is where to store the rear amp if the TP detach kit is installed. Essentially my bike sounded tremendous with a more powerful aftermarket amp driving the front speakers and the factory rear amp driving the rear speakers. In my case, I just didn't have anywhere to convenient store the factory rear amp given its dimensions.

So now I have a more powerful aftermarket amp driving the front speakers and the stock radio's internal amp driving the rear speakers with the rear amp simply dropped from the wiring altogether.
