Compression Check ?
« on: November 01, 2009, 07:23:06 AM »

I want to do a compression test on my 09 SERG and with the ACR and FBW I am not sure I can do it by jumping the starter with a remote switch which I have done on many bikes so I do not have to ground the plugs. Anyone try this yet? Thanks Doc.

Thanks John, thats how I have done it in the past, but thought with the FBW and ACR I would have a problem. See now I can still do it like before. Thanks Doc

Compression test complete.  Warm engine 216 psi front cylinder 215 psi rear, not bad at all in my book.  Doc

Stock 110" 09 motor in a SERG.

Thanks John Sacks for the info. thought I would have a problem with the ACRs doing the starter jump, but they stayed closed.   Doc

Matt, the high cranking compression numbers are the result of the camshaft, not a high static compression ratio.  The static CR is around 9.3:1 according to Harley's specs.

Read the CVO service manual supplement on the 110 related to compression tests

i didn't know he had the stock 110... i know they have high numbers because of the cam, but i didn't think they would be THAT high... i figured about the 190 range...

The online tools miss the mark with the SE CVO
They are actually a lot higher than the numbers figure. I don't recall the numbers in the book but IIRC it was 210-220 without releases.
