Rinehart Exhaust New Status 10/28/09
« on: October 28, 2009, 04:09:01 PM »

I wanted to let the members here know I just talked with Mr. Rinehart directly a few minutes ago. He asked that I pass on the following information:

Despite rumors to the contrary:

1. NOT OUT OF BUSINESS--They are in business and will continue to be as their press release indicated. Untrue rumors were floating around that they were out of business as we were aware.

2. USA MANUFACTURED--All of their parts are manufactured in the USA not China or some other places according to rumors.

3. CVO TRUE DUAL DISTRIBUTION--The 2010  CVO True Duals will be out in early December (it was mid November).

4. CVO True Duals -- Will not be using the existing mufflers (1801-0100) with a 1 1/2" diameter inlet. The 2010 CVO complete True Dual System will be  2" diameter. The existing 3 1/2" mufflers  will have the larger 2" inlets.

5. NEW HEADER PIPE DESIGN-- Will accommodate both the 2009 and the 2010 CVO's. There are going to supply plugs for the "bung holes that aren't used for the 2 years.

5. PERFORMANCE--Preliminary performance shows 5-7 hp and tq increases just from the new system.

6. WARRANTY--The new warranty will be 18 months.

He wanted me to pass on his thanks for your patience but he wants to "get it right" before sending out any new products.

He asks that we don't hesitate to  access his web site to obtain more information or resolve questions we may have.

DISCLAIMER: I am not affiliated with Rinehart in any way. I was fortunate enough to meet him in Gainesville a couple of years ago... Old Racing Days...

I hope this helps those who are patiently waiting...like me..

But how big will the outlets on the mufflers be? The existiing mufflers don't look right with the saddlebag extensions on the SESG or for that matter the 09 SERG

As I understand it the mufflers will continue to be 3 1/2 " and the inlet will now be 2".

Mr Rinehart said he was struggling with the bigger muffler design in that to him and his staff they have gotten too big and getting bigger every day.

He did say he may bring out a larger size in the future though.

I have the 3 1/2' Rineharts on my CVO Street Glide now and like them very much. But thats why there's different stuff for different people...

Regards

So NO 4" cans on the Rineharts..... That makes it easy not to wait on Rinehart any longer and look at other options. Looks like Jackpots and V&H are becoming more attractive with Rinehart sticking with the older, smaller cans. Sounds like they didn't want to make the investment in updating their older muffler designs.

My sense from the conversation was that the larger ones just didn't appeal to them yet as a company. However $$$$$ aka demand is a great motivator. So if enough people want them "they will come" I am sure.

Thanks for the update.

A few months ago, I went with the V&H Monster Ovals, due to the size and sound.

does the sesg come with a race tuner (or something similar) installed and if so does anyone think it advantageous to switch to the fuelpak?

You can use the V&H classic slipons today. They have interchangeable baffles, 4" cans and can be used on 09' and 10 Ultras. My brother installed them on his 09 Ultra (not an SE). They sound OK but nothing remarkable IMO.

Cobra has 4" muffs to fit '10 and V&H has the 4" High Output Slip Ons.  Both look and sound great although that is subjective of course  ;)

I have the 4" Vance and Hines basic slippons on my SESG with the stock header pipes (with CAT still installed).  Because of the CAT, the mufflers are quieter than others that I have heard without the CAT, and are definitely not as loud as the V&H Ovals and true duals I have on my SEUC.  (I love the sound of those ovals...they are not the monster ovals)

I like the looks of the V&H slippons on the SESG and am very happy with them.  I'm sure if I ever move to non-CAT headers, the mufflers will become louder.  But they are actually pleasant to listen too now, relatively quiet at cruising speed, but will bark if you want them too.  I don't think you'd be disappointed with them, and the price is really nice too...about $375 for the pair.
