Advice Needed for 2010 SEUC Performance Mods
« on: December 14, 2009, 11:50:37 PM »

It looks like the planets are assuming proper alignment for my purchase of a 2010 SEUC within a matter of a couple weeks; nice Christmas. I have had performance modified Harleys in the past but this will be my first touring bike. Thus far the blue is edging out the burnt amber as color choice. I would appreciate advice with the following concerns.
BEST DUAL EXHAUST PERFORMANCE/SOUND. I know the CATs have gotta go and I have received one positive recommendation for the V&H Power Duals. I have not heard them and I am ok with the look but would like other ideas. I have always run fairly loud exhaust but this will be the first bike with a radio and I do want to hear it. However, if I make a mistake I'd rather have it on the side of loud rather than quiet. I most enjoy the low Harley sound. A race tuner and air intake modification are a given.
CAMS. I have heard here and elsewhere the stock cams are a little weak performace wise but with the stock set-up only modestly higher lift can be installed.
YOUR EXPERIENCE and recommendations are sincerely appreciated. Thanks, Ed

.....
BEST DUAL EXHAUST PERFORMANCE/SOUND. .....
The "Best" is going to be like beauty... it's all in the beholders eyes or in this case ears. ;D I would recommend trying to find and listen to bikes similar (CVO CUSE/SESG/SERG) that have different aftermarket dual exhaust, with and w/o lowers if you think you will be removing your lowers and then decide. You mention you like loud, but your loud and my loud (or anyone else's for that matter) may be miles apart.

You've already mentioned V&H, I'd add Rinehart's, Bubs, Freedom Performance, and Freedom Cycles to that list to look at and listen to.

When you ask for the "best" dual exhaust you're going to need to provide more information...such as what engine mods are you planning for starters. Figure out what you want to do with the engine first and then get advice on the exhaust. If you're planning to stay stock or close to stock, you can't go wrong with the stock exhaust modified to remove the cat and replace the baffles with Fullsacs.

If you're planning more extensive engine upgrades you may find duals will downgrade the investment you made in  the engine upgrades. I went the route of Fullsac baffles and cat removal but after my engine upgrades decided it was best to go to D&D's Boss Fat Cat 2:1 exhaust and currently running their ghost pipe for a dual exhaust look but 2 into 1 performance. Good luck.
