Removing the gas tank - fuel line connection
« on: March 03, 2011, 05:14:23 PM »

I need to remove the gas tank from my 09 SERG to run some wires for a stereo upgrade. The bolts are pretty obvious but Im stuck on how to disconnet the fuel line. Any tips I should know about.

You're going to laugh.  It is easy but not obvious.  It is a quick disconnect like an air hose.  Just pull down on the chrome piece and up on the line above.  You might get a couple of drops of gas but that should be it.

On the other hand, you should be able to raise the tank enough to open the plastic case that runs the length of the backbone of the frame so that you do not have to remove the tank completely.  At least that is what I did.

Caution, make sure you relieve pressure in fuel line before disconnecting. Remove fuel pump fuse and crank engine to release fuel line pressure.

And don't get to rammy with that connector when you go to put it back on.
Slow and straight. There is an O-ring up inside there that is not available separately.
