Question on the Bluetooth unit
« on: February 22, 2006, 05:56:44 PM »

Any of you guys who fitted the Bluetooth unit to a FLHTCUI? If so, do you know if anything beyond the 76408-06 unit is required?  The P&A catalogue says "Requires installation of the appropriate wiring harness" (then lists a load of parts already on the Ultra). I guess the "appropriate wiring harness" would be 70164-06.  Now that will already be on the US FLHTCUSE, since you get the XM satellite radio, but we won't get that here, so I'm guessing that the MoFoMoCo will be their usual tightass selves, and not fit the wiring harness either...

My dealer did mention something about a different wiring harness they had to have overnighted, but I don't remember the specifics.

OK now I am confussed.... I was under the impression that if you have the XM raido installed (which all the
06 SE has) you don't need the 70164-06 cable. It uses the same cable that the XM uses. Or that is that cable...

I'll need to look at my receipt at work but I am sure when the unit was going in one of the delays was waiting for the wiring harness that it turned out they did need.

I'm kind of guessing Bubba - as the MoFoMoCo are tightwads, as standard they will fit the 70172-06 harness, which is only for connecting the XM.  That way you are forced to buy the 70164-06 (which connects Bluetooth AND XM) if you upgrade to BT.

Since I doubt that HDI models will have XM fitted, my bet is that no cable will be fitted as standard to mine at all!

Yo Bubba, checked my invoice and the Harness 70164-06 is the one needed for the install.  $85.95.
