Phoenix AZ MC Emission testing
« on: December 31, 2009, 11:02:04 PM »

Was talking with a friend and found this hard to believe.  Is it true that living in Phoenix you have to hve your MC emission tested?  If so what do you do about pipes & tuning?

Yes it's true.  Just got my notice yesterday.  The test is at idle only, unlike cars that test at simulated speed as well.  There is a movement afoot to eliminate the requirement for motorcycles.

Yes, an annual trip to the SMOG Station is required if the bike is more than five years old. All bikes less than five years old must be tested every two years.

While living here during the previous four years my present 2002 FLHRSEI and a 1999 FLHR, both with V&H exhaust and a mild tune, passed the Sniffer without a problem.
