Next Time You Have Your Outter Fairing Off
« on: January 21, 2010, 08:55:13 AM »

Not my bike, but mine is starting to show the same wear. So look at yours next time you have your fairing off. Will post a fix also, I used chrome door edge molding on mine as I had it here.  Doc

That discouraging news :(. Is that an 09 with a stock radio or an after market radio? Jim

The radio has been removed for the pic. The bike is not a 09. But my 09 SERG has the same problem. So keep an eye on the problem. MOCO has no fix for this, its up to you to fix it. Or hope it wears thru before your warranty is up and get it replaced from MOCO.   Doc

My 06 had the same problem I filled the groove with J&B Weld and added edge guard the the radio bracket. It is one of the first mods I added to my 09.

How about grinding the radio bracket down about a 1/4" to eliminate the interference fit? touch it up with some black paint and your good to go. I looked at my 09 with 32 miles on it and theres no sign of anything rubbing against the fairing.

I have 8000 miles on mine it it is rubbing. I am not sure but it looks like the brackets in question may help to support the outer fairing on the top section, but I may be all wrong with this thought.    Doc
