Heated Grips ON in Acc mode
« on: March 03, 2010, 05:37:40 PM »

Just an FYI.  On my bike if the grips are not off, they heat up with the bike in ACC mode.  The seat does not, but the grips do.  So I was pulling a lot of power off the battery without knowing it.

I wonder if that is one of those things that the dealer "installs" when assembling a new bike?  My ACC switch turns off my seat but not my grips- just the opposite of yours.

I'd actually like the ACC switch to turn them both off.  Easier to do while riding when you want the heat in the early AM and it warms up enough to not need it by afternoon.

I think he's talking about the ACC position on the ignition switch.  Not the ACC switch on the dash.  The seat runs through the dash acc circuit whereas the grips are direct wired to the accessory circuit.  So if you turn the ignition to ACC to listen to the radio while the bike is not running, it will heat the grips if you do not have them turned down to zero.

Ah.  That would make a difference :)

There was a recent thread about heated seats and the ACC switch- my brain was reading that into the first post.

Yes Sir, you are correct.  Sorry I did not to make that clear.  It's just one of those "better to know up front" things than find your battery dead when you thought you were just listening to the radio.

I think you were perfectly clear.  :2vrolijk_21:  It's harley and their dumb routing of things through a ambiguously named switch on the dash that's confusing.   >:(
