Yeah the '06 Ultra felt the same as my SE, checking that was pretty much why I rode it.  Having put this many miles on it already I don't see much of a problem with it anymore, hopefully the Ride-Str8 resolves it, won't change my mind about the bike if it doesn't though, I love it.  Never had a perfect vehicle, probably never will, right now this one is as close as it gets.

Riding (straight) on the interstate at 75-80MPH...is there any unintentional weaving- or does the bike track straight?   What is Ride-Str8?

The ride str8 is a device that mounts to the bottom of the transmission and has a link that connects to the swing arm bushing via a new plate. This added point adds stability in the rear of the touring bikes. There is a similar product called the True Track which does basically the same thing. Both have been discussed here in length. Try the search feature at the top of the page, you'll find lots of info.

Yeah there is some at those speeds, but it's either gotten better or I just don't notice it as much.  Here is an exact copy of what I handed to the dealer when I took mine in for the first service 3 days after getting it.  And here is Ride-Str8 http://www.ridestr8.com/


Things that need looked at for first service '06 SE Ultra

•      Bike feels loose, steering head loose??...maybe alignment??...not sure but it doesn’t feel as stable as my ’04 Ultra did, especially at speed.
•      Clutch engagement, clunk at end of engagement
•      cruise control, speed drops about 4mph from set speed
•      6th gear noise, not bad just different
•      rear brake lost solid feel, felt solid at first, hit the brakes at one point and it lost pressure, went all the way down, then built up again but not like it was before
•      left heated grip has transient power on it (fuse is currently pulled), with left hand on grip I was getting shocked (light shock) whenever I touched a ground anywhere else
•      Horn not working half the time
•      Air cleaner cover set-nut broken loose
•      Air suspension losing pressure
•      Bluetooth???

Don't add primary tensioner!!!!

Where is my original 5 speed gearset??

Thanks.  Had the problem on Saturday.  Now Tuesday evening and not even a phone call from the dealer yet.  Waiting patiently for them to let me know it is time for another ride. After a short ride I will likely make a quick decision.....SE or regular Ultra Classic with some upgrades.  Hoping that the SE satisfies me-  but, we'll see.

I had an 05 Ultra and I got an 06 Ultra SE on NOV.11,2005,this is my third Ultra Classic to date.
They seem to handle the same to me and I ride the interstate at 80 to 100 when I am in New Jersey.
The big change is power and the shorter windsheild on the 06 SE, but I woul never go back to just a regular Ultra.

I've had mine since the end of October. Handling is superior to my 2000 FLHTC. BTW, I too had the clunk at the end of letting out the clutch. I changed to AMSOIL at the 1k service and it disappeared! I'm running 10w-40 in the primary, 20w-50 in the crankcase and 75w-90 in the tranny. I'm sticking with AMSOIL. [smiley=banana.gif]
