RUMORS,RUMORS AND MORE RUMORS
« on: February 22, 2010, 11:59:51 AM »

Hi Guys, This is the GOSPEL! It is NOT ,REPEAT NOT TRUE, that HD is not producing CVOs in the regular colors. They will complete all orders currently in process and then discontinue those colors for the remainder of the year devoting the remainder to the Black CVO Ultra. So if you have an order at a dealer you will be ok if they have an order number assigned to the bike. Hope this helps. The first deliveries of the Black CVO Ultra will be in MAY of this year.

I saw the blacked out CVO Ultra at the Chicago motorcycle show.  Sorry my pictures are just not worth posting.
I am sure the blacked out look will be very popular with some.  It was cool to look at just not what I would want.
The GPS mount is clean, but they use an outlet and a patch cord to make the volume run thru the stereo.  This part I thought looked very "home made", the way others have done it here is much more clean.

Same bike I saw at the Cleveland show. Did the one in Chicago have red pin-stripes around the flames?

YOU ARE RIGHT, PATCH CORD FOR THE GPS IS BACKYARD WORK.

Honestly I can't remember if it had red pin-stripes.  I am sure it is the same one, the MOCO rep was saying it would be scrapped after the show tours.

Harley offers dealers to bid auction style on factory show and demo bikes. That is what they will do with it. Thats what they do with the traveling demo bikes you see on the trucks like you see at Daytona.

That may certainly be the case for all demo fleet bikes and other bikes used for bike shows and such. However I am pretty certain that the 000/999 bike will no go this route.

I had a long conversation with the Rep from the HD, just passing on what he said.  Maybe you know more about it than he does.  He pointed out that it was 000/999 and then said it will be scrapped.
Makes sense it is just for the shows, if it was a production for sale it wouldn't it be 001/999?

Correct, and correct... You can take that to the bank. ;) That bike will not end up anywhere other then scrap or tucked away somewhere in a room at the MoCo that's why they numbered it that way. :2vrolijk_21: There is a big difference between a demo fleet and a "numbered special edition" bike. The reason they gave that bike the "000" number was so they could take it around to show (exhibit), not have to worry about damaging it, and/or reducing the price of it because it was an exhibit bike.

I can guarantee HD will not scrap that bike..There have been other numbered bikes that dealers have bid on. In the end it is the dollars you count.

I stopped at my dealer today and inquired about this status of my Scarlett/Slate, it has an confirmed order number and a ship date of 03/10/10, color confirmed. They are getting 1 Black, and all their other orders are confirmed with colors as ordered.

Oh by the way, I too saw the Black at Chicago,, the "JUMPERWIRE" for the garmin is AWFUL!!! They should be ashamed of that type of poor work.

Beings that bike is numbered 000/999, it was never intended to be sold.  I would even venture to guess, that it's probably not even a fully functional motorcycle.  If it doesn't get scrapped, the only other place it will end up is in the back room of the MoCo's museum with all the other models from previous years.  JMO.

I saw the 000 bike at the Chicago show and also was a little underwhelmed. The Garmin patch cord was indeed very tacky. I was also very surprised how the red pinstriping didn't have anywhere near the pop as in the brochures. Might have been the lighting, but just looked kind of dull.

While I agree there are some who will go nuts over this thing, it dawned on me that alot of the cost of the normal CVO's is based on all of the upgraded chrome pieces. When I noticed that the handcontrols where the standard black plastic jobbers off the std bikes, and the same with a few other things, it started to make me wonder why this thing actually costs more? Imho, besides the 110, and the paint, this thing is essentially a blacked out limited?

It is a fully functional bike and was ridden by HD execs at the winter dealer meeting last month. If he was serious, the new ceo will be keeping it. Otherwise it will go to the highest bidder of the dealers that choose to bid on it.

I'm thinking that the addition of the ZUMO and the poorly wired work on patching it in to the stereo was a last minute and unplanned item that they decided to throw on. There have been several postings on how terrible the HK GPS is and I'm sure they see the posts of people buying the ZUMO because of this.  It is too sad that they did not read or see the posts of how people have installed them. Just my $.02 on how the MOCO is watching and seeing what WE are doing without coming right out and telling us they are.
