Insurance update
« on: April 21, 2010, 11:31:23 AM »

I got some feed back from our local dealer on how they rate different insurance company's agents when they do a damage claim.
Seems they have most problems/issues with State Farm, Progressive as the most difficult to deal with.
The service writer said that State Farm has a computer program provided by H-D to do estimates.
The dealer does NOT have this program. Anyone know anything about this "program"?
Needless to say, the labor hours are WAY lower than the dealer estimate!

Just wondering.

I would encourage you not to judge a companies conduct in one locale as indicative of claims handling nationwide.  Local claims managers have a fair amount of clout when it comes to how their offices are handled.  In Az, State Farm is not as hard to work with as some of the other "motorcycle carriers" in my opinion.

A real problem comes in as a result of all the mods we do to our bikes for which the carrier usually collects no additional premium.  The key is to go over all the mods and get something in writing that shows they are covered and whether depreciation will be involved vs actual replacement cost in the event of a loss.

Pictures and receipts are very helpful.
