How much is my paint worth?
« on: February 12, 2006, 10:26:08 PM »

I am thinking of replacing the paint on my Nebula yellow and cobalt blue Fat Boy.

Should I re-paint the factory tins or save the paint and start with new tins?

How much would someone be willing to pay for a set of CVO paint?
Is the re-sale value of my bike reduced without the factory CVO paint?
If so, how much?

Thanks for your advice...

save those tins, that way you can easily put her back as she came.  You will loose value on that scoot if you don't.  You can pick up some take off factory tins to paint fairly cheaply.  And I would hold on to the factory tins and not sell them.  Probably did not answer your question.  if you must sell them I'll give you a grand for them.

The rear fender is exclusive to your bike at this point......keep that in mind when shopping for new tins. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Which is the direction I'd go.....new tins/custom paint....save the stock stuff. If you ever sell the bike it will come in handy. Without that paint set you may have a hard time passing it off as a collectable/limited production CVO bike.

Yes, but does "collectable/limited production CVO bike" really mean anything?

Are used CVO bikes keeping there value more than stock bikes?

Thanks!!!

Keep the original tins.  You'll have to check with your dealer on the availability of replacement new rear fenders for the SE2.  I'm sure they can be bought, but it would be interesting to see what they are asking for it.  Let us know what you find out.  What kind of paint job are you looking to do.
