One last thing...  I think most find 3 1/2 quarts of oil is sufficient for the engine on an oil change.  (although some may take 4 quarts)  For most, however, if you put 4 quarts in, you will blow a 1/2 quart out thru the breather. 

It's great that you're doing this yourself.  Everyone should, as it keeps you familiar with your bike, plus you will know it is done properly...
