Removing Lowers?
« on: June 11, 2010, 04:32:49 PM »

A group of us are taking a trip through CA, and Arizona late August.
I will be on my FLHTCUSE3
It will be Hot!!!
Should I remove my lowers to help with the heat?
Or does it really matter?

I live in Arizona and pretty much ride on year around. I would leave them on and buy a H2O vest w/jacket for this type of weather... :2vrolijk_21:

I just got back from a 3700 mile trip to CO and NM, 100 degrees everyday, even hot in Denver!
Had the lowers on and took them off for one day, not much difference.
Ride in the early morning, quit about 11, wait 'till the sun goes down about 8pm and ride some more.
Do all the tricks to keep cool.
Better yet: don't ride in AZ in the summer!
JMHO :sweatdrop:

I live in the desert of So. Cal. and I take them off for the summer ( came off last Monday ). It makes a big difference out here, there is a bunch more air getting to that overheater called an engine. 110mofo does the same on his and will tell you the same, big difference. I prefer the look with them on, but I need to keep that engine cool.  Dave

I live in Florida. It gets hot here sometimes. I have speakers in mine and don't take them off anymore. However, when I could, it was a lot better ENGINE heat wise. If it's 100 degrees out, it's hot whether you have them on or not. For me, removing the lowers in the summer made it much more tolerable.

Here in the South (Mississippi).  plenty of heat and humidity.  For me,  LOWERS OFF.  Looks better and lots  more air circulatinng around the big 110 heater.  Definitely more air flow.
