Trailer wiring harness
« on: April 22, 2010, 10:02:32 AM »

Looking for some info here... I have a American Legend Trailer that I've been pulling behind my 05 Roadking. I'm getting ready to put my hitch on my 2010 SEUC and American Legend is telling me my plug will not work that I took off my 05 Roadking. They have a new plug for $140 that I will have to cut and splice my trailer wiring harness.
Bushtec said they have one which they buy from Electrical Connection. I called Electrical Connection and they said they don't make one yet
The guys at J&P list only to 09 SEUC.
Did Harley change the plugs on the Ultra? If so what is everyone else doing for plugs?

Thanks for the help

I got mine from MCHITCH.COM. on my '09 and my '10 UC
Direct plug in, no splicing.
Hope this helps.

Yes, but is it on a 09 and 10 UC or SEUC. They are telling me (doesn't mean they are correct) that they changed the plug on the 10 SEUC

Who's "they"?
My UC's were both the same, as was my friend's '09 SERG.
There may be a different overlay for the SEUC because of the radio amp harness, but, I would take a look at each.
My adapter was plug and play, except for a ground wire and a hot (fused) lead.

I have a Bushtec that I pulled by my 05 and now 10..  I used the same wiring harness from the 05 to the 10 with a JandP Cycle connector for under the seat to the bikes trailer harness..    :nixweiss:

"They" are American Legend and a Co. called Electrical Connection who sells the wire harness to Bushtec.
I did pull my seat off today and my harness off my 05 plugged right in. I got the power tester out, and I have running, brake, and turn signal lights.
I called American Legend back to ask why this harness wouldn't work. I got about 3 different answers.

Now, my trailer is out being painted, so I don't know if all the wires are the same going to the trailer. At the very most, I might have to switch a couple wires around on the trailer plug.

OK, you may want to check this link:

I don't know what kind of connector is on your trailer, but, I'm sure you can narrow it down. If all else fails, give them a call.
Most businesses will be very helpful, most.
Good luck! :2vrolijk_21:

Time to eat some CROW!!

I got my trailer back from the paint shop last week and the wiring harness from my 05 Road King would NOT work. I called Bob at American Legend and he over nighted me a new harness with the isolator on it. That did the trick.
Here's a picture of the new paint work.

When I first hooked the trailer to the 10, none of the lights worked on the trailer.  Found that the bikes wiring used a different wire in the plug connection under the seat for a ground.  Added a ground to the under seat connection and all was well.

Some of my lights would work on the trailer. But the big thing that bothered me was it was back feeding from the trailer to the bike and the lights on the bike were doing funky things.

I put the isolator on and all is well.

Just a note.. I do not have LED lights on the trailer
