New Shift Linkage on the ConV
« on: March 25, 2010, 12:07:34 PM »

OK - so the linkage that came with the ConV was all nice and chrome but why should that stop anyone? I thought the simple straight rod could use some beefing up so I installed the slotted linkage (HD part # 33760-09) which nicely matches the slotted look of the Rumble Collection parts. I'll grab a shot of it on the bike and post it shortly.

Oh, took the heal shifter off the SESG and gave it to C. Looks good on the ConV.

So, I thought the VPC would be the last gotta have.   Then just couldn't break the habit of going for the heel shifter (had one on my Deluxe), so as D mentioned, he gave me his!  I think that about does it for my mods.  Well, till I saw your shift linkage...yes, it never ends! ;)

I know I have been promising a pic so I went out to the garage and took this one. It's not great but it does show how nice the linkage matches the rest of the Rumble collection hardware. I'll get more in the daylight when I get a chance.

Wow!! :shocked2: Can't believe they put the vehicle inspection sticker on the powdercoated frame. :bigcry: Is that a one time thing or will a new one have to be put on next year?? :nervous:

Yep - you get a new one every year in NY. I may have to get one of those chrome inspection sticker plates and find a place to bolt it on.

Hey Mike, I'm in Palmyra, NY, where in NY do you live?  I hope to pick up my Softail Convertible CVO this week.  Linkage looks great.

John,

Seaford LI so it's a bit of a hike. Are you going to the plant tour in York PA in June?

Mike,

I haven't heard about the tour.  I'm just getting back into bikes this year.  It's been about 10 years since I sold my Road King.  Is there a  big rally going?  I'd like to go, if I can swing it.

I would do that before the next inspection and remove that one myself. I'd be a little concerned with a tech and razor blade removing it from my powdercoated frame. :nervous:

My inspection sticker plate is attatched via a worm clamp. Mfged by Custom Chrome. Sorry, I don't have the part number because I bought it a long time ago and it's been on several bikes since. You can order one from here http://www.cyclewarehouseonline.com/index.htm I know they have them in stock, about $15. Nice linkage, I think i'll head out and pick one up.
