Chrome  I was cleaning my bike yesterday and notice there where bubbles on the brake arm / brake pedal I rub my finger over it and the chrome came off, you always hear of triple plated chrome that Harley puts on there parts but if this is triple plated some one is lying I have a 09 Screaming Eagle Road Glide these bikes are not cheep since I have my bike they have had two recalls one for rim splitting one for fuel tank ripping apart in a crash the famous seat gab and now chrome peeling off what next Mr. Harley yes every thing was taken care of under warranty except for the seat I replace it but it's just frustration of paying that much for a bike and have to go thru all of this.

Chrome peeling is a known issue.... since your bike is an '09 go straight to your dealer and ask to have it replaced. If they deny it then give Harley-Davidson Customer Service a call @ (414) 343-4056.

They are triple plated first in cooper second in nickle then finally in chrome. Harleys quality control is what is lacking. For the price of these bikes they could at least demand that whoever does there chroming does it properly and maintains higher quality control than they currently provide.

Chances are it is a subcontractor in China or Taiwan that is doing the parts for them, Harley is at fault for buying at the lowest price.

The Quality Control Department was the first department to be laid off during hard times, I don't mean the latest hard times,
and they were never re-hired!

It's quite possible.... all depends on the relationship with your dealer and who (Customer Service Rep) you get when you contact the mother ship (boss hoss). ;)

BTW - I was over on your side of the hill the last couple of Friday's... first Friday on my bike, last one in cage bringing daughters stuff home. On the way over to bring her stuff home I saw a silver SERG parked at a fast food place on Rt 29 just outside of Ruckersville and thought about you.

On my 2008  FLHT-FECU3 ... replaced chrome on the mirrors & brake foot arm ... because of Hawaii, it is usually void, but like you, it is garaged and in the middle of the island ... Keep up with the polishing, or get another part ...

Well,  so much for thinking I had the only silver SERG in the area.  I could have been mine except for the Fast Food joint.  That stuff if rough on my waist line.
H'burg is finally pretty peaceful to get around in for a change.   So I'm assuming the daughter is done with JMU and now a proud graduate?

Never know this one could have been passing thru and not local. :nixweiss:

I bet it is peaceful w/all the students gone... we (U.Va) have exams this week, then graduation and we'll get some relief. Daughter switched majors and has one more semester to go so she'll graduate in December.

Something obviously missed during metal prep before platine - that is the likely cause of peeling chrome.  Should be no big deal to have dealer replace under warranty.
