Saddlebag guard rails complete
« on: February 10, 2006, 05:41:00 PM »

I am planning on putting saddlebag guard rails on my 2004 FLHTCSE like the 2005 FLHTCSE or 2006 FLHTCUSE.  I understand I have to change the bottom underneath the saddlebags too.  I tried to get part #s from Surdyke and Chicage HD - No help.   Does any body know these part numbers for underneath saddlebags and those guard rails including hardware????? This thread might help you out a little. I don't know if the part numbers are listed but it's pretty good in showing you what you need to do.

Twolanerider has the support bars part#'s in Bgregstone's provided link.
If you aren't in a big hurry, Ebay has the guards and supports most of the time as a lot of EG standard owners take them off and put on the SEEG lower support rails.

Whether you go with the standard guards or the low profile guards the support bars underneath are the same.  You'll need part numbers 49194-85 and 90781-93.  They're both cheap too.  From one of the 20% off shops I think they were less than $20 per side.  You'll also need a pair of bolts that won't come with the saddlebag guard kits.  You'll need that flat round headed bolt that goes under the seat and attaches the top of the guard to the frame on each side.

Strange thing about the saddlebag supports - they appear to be exact mirror images right to left, but the left side has an '85 part number, and the right side a '93 part number??

Yeah, I noticed all of that too about the difference in part numbers and difference in price.  As I recall, they were packaged pretty differently too.  When you take them out of the packages, they look like perfect mirror images.  Strange stuff.
