New Motor @ 22500
« on: May 11, 2010, 04:12:33 PM »

My 09 SEUC last week developed a noise in the front cylinder that can best be described as beating on a trash can with a hammer.  Dealer picked it up, and when they tore it apart found that the roller on the lifter failed, and then damaged the bore and basically everything.  The motor company told them to pull the motor and the company is shipping a new one to be installed. I had 22500 miles on it, had recently had the 20000 mile service performed and everything was going fine. The only good thing, no hassle with motor replacement from company, and when I called the company's customer service number they told me they would expedite the shipment of the motor. I have a several state trip planned for the end of the month, and hope to still be able to make it.

My buddy has an 09 RK that did the same thing after being converted from 96 to 103 by dealer.
I don't think he had the mileage you do though. He converted around 300 miles, failed around 18000.
I've been seeing (and hearing) much about lifters these days.

Do you plan to get your 1k service on the new motor before you go, or is it planned into the route? Just curious.

Wow,  ~20k milles seems to be the magic number for the valve train in a 2009 110.   I'm hearing this lifter and valve seat issue too often here lately.  Makes me wanna buy the extended warranty before next month.

Glad it worked out for you howtodoit.

I will have the 1000 done before I go, by the local dealer, I want to make sure everything is ok before heading across country, call me gun shy if you will.
