...before I even get started, lol. The "diagnostic connector" - is this under the left side cover?

If it's the one I think it it (just under the fuse box), then my service manual refers to it as the "data link connector", and if thats the case, it has 3 pins where the supplied tts cable has 4 holes?

Yes Under your left cover there are two connectors there its the top one

the one below the first one? the manual says thats the ABS diode pack.

My bad it is the top plug went and looked it had been awhile since doing this

well, I wonder if I have the wrong TTS connector then, because the one I have has 4 holes and a square in the middle of the plug, but the bike plug only has 3 pins, and the square in the center looks to be bigger. I did try plugging it in, but it wouldn't go easily all the way in, and I didn't want to force it.

thanks for the pic- yes, I ended up connecting it about halfway as it didn't go all the way in, and it worked because it did communicate.

I think it downloaded the map I wanted, not sure because it went a little different than what the instructions said, so I'll have to call Steve tomorrow.

Did you save your factory Calibration?

Ya, that's one thing I know I did right, because I managed to find it in the TTS document file under "uploads". I also backed it up onto a DVD, as I learned from reading up on other threads here.

I also enabled ACR's, which I believe was right.

I'm pretty sure it went okay, because when I did the "Get ECM Info" after the download, it showed me "CAL ID UJ205002-000", which must be Steve's map, because when I mouse over his map in my documents, a pop up box (that shows info similar to Properties), shows his map as being "UJ205-002-C2.MTJ". If I'm right about this, then this is a good way to verify the right map was downloaded.

I didn't get to do a test ride- raining tonight- but I definitely will tomorrow PM. And, I guess I also owe a thread about my impressions of my first HD, since I finally picked up my SERG 2 weeks ago (and pic's to go with it, of course).

Our TTS cable does have 4 pins in it. That is because different model years use different pins, this way one cable does them all. If you can read the Calibration part number like you have and the bike starts up you good to go.

thanks Steve- if anyone oughta know, it's you  - it wasn't the best fit, like I said it didn't plug all the way in, but it was connected fine for sure.

 I didn't start it up though, but I'm sure it's fine, as it looked like everything loaded up okay. I'll know better tomorrow.
