Service Manual (s)
« on: June 25, 2010, 08:32:38 AM »

I was checking into the cost and availability of a Service Manual for my recently acquired 2009 SE Road Glide. I see there are 2. The Touring and then a FLTRSE3 Supplement - Retail $60 for touring and another $40 for the supplement. Am I needing both? Or will just one or the other suffice?

Actually, there are four manuals.  The regular manual for all 2009 Touring models, then the supplement for the CVO models, then the parts manual for the CVO models, and then the Electrical Diagnostic Manual for Touring Models.  That's the one that has all the info on the electrical and engine management systems, including fault codes and repair flow charts.

How detailed do you want to get?  If you just want to know about the basics for simple maintenance, stick with the regular Touring model manual.  The Supplement will add some information specific to the CVO, such as the 110 engine, hydraulic clutch, etc., that H-D should provide free with the purchase of the regular manual but that would mean forgoing the chance to make more profit on the CVO purchase.  It's not worth the price they charge, but then again what is?

Probably too much for me. I think I'll just get the basic manual and then the CVO supplement down the road if I find the need.

I am looking for the manuals for a 2008 CVO Softail Springer FXSTSSE2.  Does anyone have the part numbers, I have looked at H-D's web site, but they didn't seem to list the CVO bikes.

Look here - 2008 CVO™ Softail® Springer® for P/A specific to your bike, and here for the Manuals.
