Clutch Bleed Screwed
« on: June 12, 2010, 04:40:39 PM »

Went to bleed the clutch for my first time... Someone has already been there!
Original owner or Dealer...
Rounded off and too small for my needle nose Vise-Grips.
Socket will work but messy.

Zipped over to the local dealer... Sure to find a bleed screw there for $10-15....HA!
They can't find one,
Can't even fine a part number.
They will call the Motor Co on Tuesday (Dealer closed on Mondays) and ask if there is a part number. "A new transmission cover comes with the bleed screw included"... Yeah Sure.

Time for a cool drink and then off to Pep Boys, NAPA etc.

On a good note, the Corbin Hollywood Solo, Black Gator, went on today with ease and looks fine.
A little stiff and sits me up a half inch or so but should settle after a while.

Try part # 43817-02.  That's the number the parts book shows for a 2010 Ultra - I would bet the bleeders are same.  It's around $3.00.

Thanks Bluegoose, I'll pass this on to my dealer and make a note myself, but I bet this is the black PVC cap.
Pep Boys had the bleed screws. 1/4-28 in a two pack for $1.97.
All done now. New load of fluid in, air and some "crud" are out. All cleaned up and waiting for morning to ride. (Pushing 95 degrees now)
The clutch lever feels better now with 1/4 - 1/2" away from the grip before the bike wants to move and no more "leap" when dropping into 1st from N...at least in the garage.
Thanks for letting me whine...Mods feel free to move this if it belongs elsewhere.

OK! Dealer called today, as promised... They called HD and have no part number for the bleed screw~ :confused5:

Oh well... For the record:
1/4 x 28 from Pep Boys (likely any parts store)

But yes you can get the little black cap from HDand then it will look like new.
