oil change

I just changed my oil after about 3,000 from Syn 3 to Amsoil. The oil was like black and thick as water. I just checked it after about 500 and it is a little black. whatsup?

When changing oil the conventional way you never get all the (old) oil out of the bike. There was still some old oil left and it is now mixed in w/the new this is normal.

Not to worry, the motor oil turns dark fairly quickly thanks to the high operating temps.  Some brands turn dark faster than others, and some brands start out darker than others (check out some Castrol GTX, for instance, looks used right out of the bottle).

Amsoil is dark to begin with......
