just did 1 today.do not take out the 02 sencers until you get the pipe off.then all you need is a cresent wrench to remove them.make sure you get and install new gaskets.some guys use the old ones, but for $14 it is a cheap investment so not to do the job over again.take off the front floorboard.disconnect it at the frame,2 large allen head bolts.buy a roll of wide masking tape.tape off the timing cover and the tranny and anywhere else you can and will bump.you do not want to scratch the chrome on your $35k bike.lossen the front and rear pipe heat shields.then you can move them down alittle to get at the nuts easier.i did not take them off because there was no need to.start from the back.remove mufflers first.i left the left side muffler attached to the cross over pipe.no need to take it off the crosserover, and easier to reinstall.remove the clamp from the headpipe for the left side muffler and crosserover.take your time and tape everything off that can be scratched.also remove your sidecovers for safety.the bike i did today is my buddys.i took my other buddys pipe from his 09 streetglide, replaced it with a vance hines power duals x pipe.took his stock pipe and put it on my other buddys 09 serg.i am getting real good at doing this.did my serg with a cat free pipe also.added a fuelpak and rhinehart slipons,97 hp and 108 ft pounds torque.

btw...  be careful tightening up the front clamp on the heat shield that goes over the X. That shield is weak where they spot welded the clamp retainers. If too much pressure is used then your heat shield will bend in and make two dimples in your head shield. Don't ask me how I know.   :nixweiss:

... two dimples in your head shield ...

And here I was thinking those dimples were caused because my bike is so happy with the X pipe it can't stop smiling.  :huepfenjump3:

There is also a caution in the manual about using anti seize and getting it on the sensor.  Be very carefule to minimize it and keep it on the threaded portion.....

:( I learned about the dimples on the heat shield Friday night as well, but the smiles Saturday morning overcame that quickly.  I put on the xpipe and Fullsac baffles (2.0") and am very happy with the sound and the performance gain - really woke up the 110 - more what I expected for the size motor.

Also had a small issue with forward heat shield not matching up with the shield from the rear cylinder like it was stock, but not bad, just a small gap.  Might be my bad on that as well - late night...

Hey Mike! Not yet. I did my 09 CVO Ultra first. I'll probably do Lisa's after the 4th. Then I have a friend with a 09 CVO Roadglide that want's me to do his. I was really suprised at how much better the bike runs. The XIED seems to do the job also. Bike doesn't seem as hot and cools down much quicker after a ride.
Did you ever get you're windshield?

Yes I bought a clear 8" for long trips and a  dark smoke 6" for everyday use both from Freedomshields.net.  Rode to big bear with 8" worked well.  Car backed into bike and damaged front fender on that trip!  I've got new one on order.
