Headset/Intercom System
« on: February 22, 2006, 10:32:09 AM »

Not sure where to post this question, but I'm considering a headset/intercom for our longer rides.  I've relished the rides thus far without small chit-chat, but think it's time to look at other options.  I have the '05 SEEEG, so there's no stock hook-up.  Any ideas, suggestions, and experiences to pass along?

Most people use J&M or Chatterbox.  I'm like you, don't have either.  With the J&M you can also have CB to talk to fellow riders if needed.

I did the J & M and like it: http://www.jmcorp.com. I just store the CB handheld and only bring it out for long rides. J & M does the whole setup w/ velcro push to talk button. Price is sometimes better at Sierra Electronics: http://www.sierra-mc.com

We have been using the Chatterbox 50 since '99. If you keep it dry (take it off REAL quik when it rains), you'll have no problems. I bought some better foam covers for the mic's at Daytona a few years ago which helped take out the background noise better than the OE ones, but otherwise no problems. Talk normally up to about 80, even with the low windshield. Makes long days better when you can converse without shouting. Mount the unit on HER helmet, then she just plugs to the cord hanging from yours when you mount up. Stays charged for an insane amount of time. Cheap, less than $150 inc the headsets.
