Yep, a powered one....no  problems.  But why would you think plugging a different antenna into the back of the radio would have any effect on the security system?

I was told that the security system uses the antenna to transmit,  the antenna on my sg with security has a wire running around it, where my sg with out security had a smooth antenna

Transmit what?? :confused5: Even if you get/install the H-D® Security System Smart Siren II the antenna for that receiver is attached to it.

BTW - your bike doesn't come stock w/that it comes stock with the H-D® Factory Security System Smart Siren Kit.

That's about the only electrical problem I haven't had with my bike :laugh4: :laugh4:

Easy way to figure it out is to check out the kit for the bikes that don't come with the security system as standard equipment.  If the radio antenna doubles as the antenna for the security system, I'd guess they would have to include one with the kit or tell you it was a required additional purchase.  Another easy way to tell is to remove the antenna and stick it in the house, then see if your security system still works.  I bet it will.

BTW, on the old push button fob bikes the "antenna" was the left turn signal switch wire.

Edit:  When in doubt, haul out the Electrical and Diagnostic Manual and see what it has to say about the security system.  That's where I learned about the "antenna" for the security system on my old style bike.

My  SESG antenna had a wire wrapped around it under the casing and I removed that and went to an in fairing antenna and the security system works fine. I also upgraded to the Smart Siren II for the paging feature and that has the antenna attached to it.
