Welcome to the forum.  The best place to get information on your Zumo 660 is to go to zumoforums.com and register there.  It is one of the best resources for Zumo information.

I'm not sure what "proximity" points are.  Garmin calls various stops along the route "via points", or maybe "point of interest".  Anyway, I think our resident expert is Fired00d, try sending him a personal message.  Your owner manual should explain how to add via points to a route, and if you don't have the manual you can download a pdf version from the Garmin website.   https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/manual.jsp?product=010-00727-00&cID=135&pID=15000

Me either. :nixweiss:

If the original poster could explain in more detail what he's trying to do I'm sure someone can help him.

As I understand his question I think he is referring to 'proximity alerts' - that is an alert when you are within the pre-selected distance of a POI.  I know that you can do that as part of the selection process when loading POIs.  I have the Road Tech Zumo 660 with the H-D dealers loaded.  But I cannot figure out how (or if I can) add an alert to these.  I suspect that they were loaded by Garmin in some sort of format other that that of POIs which you upload with the POI Loader program.

If it is proximity alerts the original poster is after instructions can be found here - Zumo Tips/Tricks... Reply #179

I'm also of the understanding that the preloaded dealers in the Road Techs are in a different format then user loaded POI's.

Gary, I don't have info about this - just my suspicion.  But knowing Garmin I bet we are correct.

I think I remember mention of this on the Zumo Forum as the case when someone wanted to update that list. If it is a Garmin thing it wouldn't surprise me if it is at the request of the MoCo wanting (making) it such. :nixweiss:

Can anyone instruct me on how to put proximity points onto a Zumo 660?

i'm pretty sure that you need a csv (comma seperated value) full of proximity points  wineries, wind farms etc, then the poi loader finds them and unless alerts are built in to the file you can manually load them and put the alert where you want it.  second the zumo forums for good intel.

You may be correct.  But one would think that the moco would want you to know when you were near a dealer.  Now that I think of it maybe better that the alerts do not come up as my bsr can easily see the screen from her perch and might want to detour for a quick shopping excursion.  Any you know how expensive those can be!  :2vrolijk_21:
